Unlike other plastic straw alternatives, such as paper straws or pasta, our drinking straw 2.0 does not lose any of its properties while drinking. On the contrary, it is even dishwasher safe and reusable. The drinking straw 2.0 does not become soft and does not dissolve in the drink after a certain time. The properties are almost 1:1 comparable to a classic plastic straw - without being made of petroleum-based plastic.

Our #IAMPLASTICFREE drinking straws 2.0 do without petroleum-based plastic. As a result, our straws are free of environmentally harmful plastic and cannot produce any microplastics during composting.

In principle, our drinking straws 2.0 are certified both for disposal via home compost and for industrial composting. Disposal via the "green bin" is not recommended, however, because composting plants cannot (yet) recognize the stalks as plastic-free products and, on the other hand, many composting plants currently (still) run in a composting rhythm that is too short, so that the stalks are not can be fully composted. Both lead to the stalks having to be sorted out at great expense, which would not be expedient. With the increasing use of alternative, sustainable materials, it can be assumed that composting processes and recycling options will soon be developed further. Until then, we recommend disposal with the residual waste. The stalks are used thermally, but at the same time new energy is gained from this process.
